The small town feel and the quality of Miamisburg's schools fed our family's decision to settle here fourteen years ago. Within that time frame, our four children, all successful Miamisburg graduates, have distinguished themselves in their own unique ways. I want the next generation of Miamisburg students to enjoy the opportunities for success that my children had here.
Having interviewed hundreds of community residents over the past six months, I've learned a great deal about taxpayers' concerns. Many have difficulty reconciling Miamisburg's sky-high property taxes and ever-increasing levies with plummeting test scores. Some cited a lack of consistent discipline, affirmation of transgenderism, and denial of women's privacy as issues that need to be openly addressed.
A specific issue that demands transparency is the district's teacher training in Critical Race Theory. No school district should confuse students by suggesting that skin color distinguishes winners from losers, nor should kids be encouraged to deny or alter the legitimacy and permanence of birth gender. Miamisburg parents hold our school leaders accountable, too, for improving test scores and for operating within the budget without frequent tax increases.
Over the years, I acquired many memories of Miamisburg schools, some of which developed from my having served as a volunteer band parent. I'm glad for the parental involvement experience, I'm proud of my kids and their accomplishments, and I'm convinced that Miamisburg Schools played a major role in preparing them to succeed. Help me to ensure that, upon graduation, the next generation of students is as well prepared and equipped for life after high school as my children were.
