Last Friday's conference football game ended in a Centerville victory over Miamisburg with a final score of 27 - 14. Though Miamisburg had the lead at the end of the first quarter, Centerville came back for the win.
At the game I met Ann Wells, the mother of Miamisburg's defensive end, Marshon Gregory-Bey. Ann said that Marshon, an honor roll student with a 3.9 GPA, has received scholarship offers and has been invited to visit Miami and Kentucky State Universities.
Ann and her family moved to Miamisburg from Detroit, Michigan, where racism had been an issue. She has not experienced racism since relocating here, and she loves this community. There was a time when Confederate flags were displayed in the stands in Harman Stadium 40 years ago, fostering a degree of unrest. Our community has come a long way.
