I wish to congratulate Jason Mowery and Nila Getter for their election to the Miamisburg School board. I wish them success in their roles as school board members, elected officials who represent those who elected them.
I wish to thank the many individuals who helped and advised me on my campaign. Without them I would not have had the success that I had. Thank you to the 2,106 individuals who believed in me and voted for me to represent you on the Miamisburg School board.
What was accomplished
Over the course of the campaign, I had the opportunity to visit thousands of homes and talk to hundreds of individuals to learn about their concerns. I am truly amazed by this community--the rural farm land to the west, the downtown 1880's neighborhoods, and the new developments being built around the city. Regardless of where people live, they are members of our community and have an interest in our schools.
Plans moving forward
While I will not be serving as a Miamisburg school board member in the near term, I commit myself to the following.
Build a working relationship with the members of the Miamisburg School Board.
Attend school board meetings to understand the direction of our community.
Publish findings of interest to the community.
Continue to listen to parents' concerns.
Encourage parents to be more engaged with our community.
Together we will make a difference.
Closing thoughts
The last six months presented an amazing opportunity for me to meet the many people who live in the Miamisburg community. I grew as a person. I now have a better understanding of what it means to be an elected official, a representative of the public. In many ways that fundamental understanding has has been lost and is reflected in processes and policies. I look forward to working for the good of Miamisburg in the coming months and years. I love this city, its history. and its people.
